What could be a better holiday location than Agios Ioannis? Right in the centre of the small island of Corfu you are ideally placed to explore. Hire a car and tour the highways and byeways. You won't have to go far to view some of the most breathtaking scenery in Europe. The resort of Paleokastritsa is dotted with beautiful beaches and coves with some stunning panoramas of the cliffs and bays.

Agios Ioannis itself has slumbered for centuries under the olives and their bounty, a backwater in the swell of histories. In the 1950 the Hotel Marida was the first Youth Hostel on the island. Here came a wild influx of backpackers through the summers of the 60s and 70s, their tents overspilling into the surrounding groves, an area that gained the legendary name of "The Cactus Hilton". Many of those same youngsters have ripened into parents, returning here regularly with their families to a largely unchanged haven. You may enjoy al fresco dining at nearby Kosta's taverna, a place of old-world charm, surveyed by the benign gaze of the patriarch.

Aqualand is situated about a kilometre from the villas and provides a fantastic day out for old and young alike. It is a very large water-park and boasts some bloodcurdling slides into which your children will lure you.
